Description

Bake up a batch of irresistible American Sugar Cookie Copycat – a quick, easy, and authentic homemade version of the beloved classic cookie. These soft, chewy, and buttery cookies are a melt-in-your-mouth delight that will satisfy your sweet tooth.

Ingredients

– 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour

– 1 teaspoon baking powder

– 1/2 teaspoon salt

– 1 cup unsalted butter, softened

– 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar

– 1 large egg

– 2 teaspoons vanilla extract

Instructions

1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking powder, and salt. Set aside.

3. In a large bowl, beat the softened butter and granulated sugar together until light and fluffy, about 2-3 minutes.

4. Beat in the egg and vanilla extract until well combined.

5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined. Do not overmix.

6. Scoop the dough by rounded tablespoonfuls onto the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 2 inches apart.

7. Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden brown.

8. Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

For a chewier cookie, use dark brown sugar instead of granulated sugar. You can also add sprinkles or decorations to the cookies before baking for a festive touch.
