Description

Indulge in the classic flavors of apple crisp in a delicious pie form with this easy, no-fail recipe. The buttery, crumbly topping and tender, cinnamon-spiced apples make this the perfect nostalgic dessert for any occasion.

Ingredients

– 6 cups peeled and sliced Granny Smith apples

– 1 cup all-purpose flour

– 1 cup old-fashioned oats

– 1 cup brown sugar

– 1/2 cup unsalted butter, cubed

– 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

– 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg

– 1/4 teaspoon salt

Instructions

1. – Preheat oven to 375°F.

2. – In a large bowl, toss the sliced apples with 1/4 cup of the brown sugar and the cinnamon. Spread the apples into a 9-inch pie dish.

3. – In another bowl, combine the flour, oats, remaining 3/4 cup brown sugar, butter, nutmeg, and salt. Use your fingers to mix and crumble the mixture until it resembles coarse crumbs.

4. – Sprinkle the crumb topping evenly over the apples.

5. – Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until the topping is golden brown and the apples are tender.

6. – Allow the pie to cool for at least 15 minutes before serving.

Notes

For a crisper topping, you can refrigerate the crumb mixture for 30 minutes before assembling the pie. Serve warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or whipped cream for an extra special treat.
