Ingredients

– 4 cups water

– 1 cup grits

– 1 cup shredded gouda cheese

– 4 tablespoons unsalted butter

– 1 cup milk

– 1 teaspoon salt

– 1/2 teaspoon black pepper


Instructions

1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).

2. In a medium saucepan, bring the water to a boil over high heat. Gradually whisk in the grits, reduce the heat to low, and cook, stirring frequently, until the grits are thick and creamy, about 15-20 minutes.

3. Remove the grits from the heat and stir in the gouda cheese, butter, milk, salt, and black pepper until well combined and the cheese is melted.

4. Transfer the cheesy grits to a greased 9-inch baking dish.

5. Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the edges are bubbling.
