Description
Candied apple slices are a delightful, sweet treat that are easy to make and perfect for snacking, topping desserts, or giving as homemade gifts. Crisp apple slices are coated in a caramelized sugar glaze for a delectable, crunchy texture and rich, caramelized flavor.
Ingredients
– 3 medium apples, cored and sliced into 1/4-inch thick slices
– 1/2 cup white granulated sugar
– 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
– 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
– 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
Instructions
1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
2. In a large bowl, combine the apple slices, sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Toss to coat the apple slices evenly.
3. Melt the butter in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the coated apple slices and cook, stirring frequently, for 5-7 minutes, until the sugar has caramelized and the apples are tender.
4. Transfer the candied apple slices to the prepared baking sheet, arranging them in a single layer.
5. Bake for 5-7 minutes, or until the coating is crisp and golden brown.
6. Remove from the oven and let cool for 5 minutes before serving.
Notes
For a variation, try adding a pinch of ground ginger or a splash of vanilla extract to the sugar mixture. The candied apple slices can be stored in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 1 week.
