Description
Indulge in the delectable flavors of Caramel Apple Dessert Cups – a quick and easy autumnal treat that combines a buttery, flaky crust with a cinnamon-spiced apple filling and a decadent caramel drizzle.
Ingredients
– 2 cups all-purpose flour
– 1/2 teaspoon salt
– 3/4 cup unsalted butter, chilled and cubed
– 1/4 cup ice water
– 3 medium apples, peeled, cored, and diced
– 1/2 cup brown sugar
– 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
– 1/4 cup unsalted butter
– 1/2 cup heavy cream
– 1/4 cup caramel sauce
Instructions
1. – In a large bowl, combine the flour and salt. Cut in the chilled butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Gradually add the ice water, mixing just until the dough comes together. Wrap the dough in plastic and refrigerate for 30 minutes.
2. – Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a 12-cup muffin tin.
3. – In a medium bowl, toss the diced apples with the brown sugar and cinnamon.
4. – Roll the chilled dough out to 1/8-inch thickness. Cut out 12 circles using a 4-inch round cookie cutter. Press the dough circles into the prepared muffin cups.
5. – Divide the apple mixture evenly among the dough-lined cups.
6. – Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the crusts are golden brown and the apples are tender.
7. – In a small saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Slowly pour in the heavy cream and whisk until the mixture is smooth and thickened, about 5 minutes. Remove from heat and stir in the caramel sauce.
8. – Drizzle the warm caramel sauce over the baked Caramel Apple Dessert Cups.
9. – Serve warm and enjoy!
Notes
For a richer flavor, you can use a combination of Granny Smith and Honeycrisp apples. Refrigerate any leftover Caramel Apple Dessert Cups and reheat before serving.
