Description

Indulge in the ultimate Christmas treat with these easy-to-make, award-winning Christmas Donuts! Infused with warm spices and coated in a dusting of powdered sugar, these delightful donuts are sure to bring joy to your holiday celebrations.

Ingredients

– 2 cups all-purpose flour

– 1/4 cup granulated sugar

– 2 teaspoons baking powder

– 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

– 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg

– 1/4 teaspoon salt

– 1 egg

– 3/4 cup milk

– 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted

– Vegetable oil for frying

– Powdered sugar for dusting

Instructions

1. 1. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt.

2. 2. In a separate bowl, beat the egg, then stir in the milk and melted butter.

3. 3. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined, being careful not to overmix.

4. 4. Heat 2-3 inches of vegetable oil in a heavy-bottomed pot or Dutch oven to 350°F.

5. 5. Using a doughnut cutter or two different-sized round cookie cutters, cut out the donut shapes from the dough.

6. 6. Carefully drop the donuts into the hot oil and fry for 1-2 minutes per side, or until golden brown.

7. 7. Transfer the fried donuts to a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.

8. 8. While still warm, generously dust the donuts with powdered sugar.

9. 9. Serve the Christmas Donuts warm and enjoy!

Notes

For a festive twist, you can also add a drizzle of melted chocolate or sprinkle with crushed candy canes.
