Ingredients
– 40 saltine crackers
– 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter
– 1 cup packed brown sugar
– 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
– 1/4 teaspoon sea salt
Instructions
1. Preheat the oven to 350°F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
2. Arrange the saltine crackers in a single layer on the prepared baking sheet.
3. In a medium saucepan, melt the butter and brown sugar over medium heat, stirring constantly, until the mixture comes to a boil. Continue to cook, stirring, for 3 to 5 minutes, until thickened slightly.
4. Carefully pour the hot toffee mixture over the saltine crackers, spreading it evenly to cover the crackers completely.
5. Bake for 8 to 10 minutes, or until the toffee is bubbling.
6. Remove the baking sheet from the oven and sprinkle the cinnamon and sea salt evenly over the top.
7. Let the toffee cool completely, then break it into pieces and serve.
Notes
For a more pronounced churro flavor, you can increase the amount of cinnamon to 1 1/2 teaspoons. This toffee can be stored in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 1 week.
