Ingredients
– 1 pound fresh green beans, trimmed
– 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
– 3 cloves garlic, minced
– 2 tablespoons soy sauce
– 1 teaspoon brown sugar
– 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper (or to taste)
– Salt and black pepper to taste
Instructions
1. Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the green beans and blanch for 2-3 minutes until slightly tender but still crisp. Drain and set aside.
2. In a large skillet or wok, melt the butter over medium-high heat. Add the minced garlic and sauté for 1 minute, until fragrant.
3. Add the blanched green beans, soy sauce, brown sugar, and cayenne pepper to the skillet. Toss to coat the beans evenly and cook for 2-3 minutes, until the beans are tender and the sauce has thickened slightly.
4. Season with salt and black pepper to taste.
5. Serve the Crack Green Beans hot, garnished with chopped fresh parsley if desired.
Notes
For a milder flavor, reduce the amount of cayenne pepper. You can also add a splash of lemon juice or a sprinkle of toasted sesame seeds for extra flavor.
