Crispy, golden wonton wrappers filled with juicy, seasoned shredded chicken – these Crispy Chicken Wonton Tacos are a delicious and easy-to-make 30-minute meal or appetizer.
Ingredients
– 12 wonton wrappers
– 1 pound boneless, skinless chicken breasts
– 1 tablespoon olive oil
– 1 teaspoon chili powder
– 1 teaspoon garlic powder
– 1/2 teaspoon cumin
– 1/4 teaspoon salt
– 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
– 2 cups vegetable oil for frying
– 2 tablespoons chopped fresh cilantro
– 2 lime wedges
Instructions
1. In a medium bowl, combine the chicken, olive oil, chili powder, garlic powder, cumin, salt, and black pepper. Mix well to coat the chicken.
2. Heat the vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
3. Carefully place the wonton wrappers into the hot oil and fry for 1-2 minutes per side, until golden brown and crispy. Transfer to a paper towel-lined plate.
4. In the same skillet, cook the seasoned chicken over medium-high heat for 6-8 minutes, stirring occasionally, until cooked through.
5. Shred the cooked chicken using two forks.
6. Fill each crispy wonton taco shell with the shredded chicken. Garnish with chopped cilantro and serve with lime wedges.
Notes
For extra flavor, you can add diced onions, bell peppers, or a sprinkle of shredded cheese to the chicken filling. These tacos also pair well with a dollop of sour cream or guacamole.
