Ingredients
– 2 cups all-purpose flour
– 1 teaspoon instant yeast
– 1 teaspoon salt
– 3/4 cup warm water
– 2 tablespoons olive oil
– 1 (15 oz) can crushed tomatoes
– 2 cloves garlic, minced
– 1 teaspoon dried oregano
– 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
– 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
Instructions
1. In a large bowl, combine the flour, yeast, and salt. Stir in the warm water and olive oil until a shaggy dough forms.
2. Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and knead for 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
3. Press the dough into a 9×13 inch baking pan, pressing it up the sides to create a thick crust.
4. In a small bowl, mix together the crushed tomatoes, garlic, oregano, and red pepper flakes (if using).
5. Spread the tomato sauce evenly over the dough, leaving a 1/2 inch border.
6. Sprinkle the mozzarella cheese over the top.
7. Bake at 450°F for 20-25 minutes, until the crust is golden brown and the cheese is melted and bubbly.
8. Let cool for 5 minutes before slicing and serving.
Notes
