Description

Savor the flavors of fall with these amazing Fall Scones! Warm, flaky, and infused with cozy spices, these scones are the perfect autumn treat. Enjoy them with a hot cup of coffee or tea for a delightful break.

Ingredients

– 2 cups all-purpose flour

– 1/4 cup granulated sugar

– 2 teaspoons baking powder

– 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon

– 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg

– 1/4 teaspoon salt

– 6 tablespoons unsalted butter, chilled and cubed

– 3/4 cup cold milk

– 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

1. – Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

2. – In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt.

3. – Cut in the chilled butter using a pastry blender or two forks until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.

4. – In a separate bowl, combine the cold milk and vanilla extract.

5. – Pour the milk mixture into the dry ingredients and stir just until a shaggy dough forms.

6. – Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and gently knead a few times.

7. – Pat the dough into a 1-inch thick round. Cut into 8 wedges and place them on the prepared baking sheet.

8. – Bake for 12-15 minutes, or until the scones are golden brown.

9. – Serve warm, dusted with additional powdered sugar if desired.

Notes

For a sweeter scone, you can increase the sugar to 1/3 cup. You can also add 1/2 cup of chopped pecans or walnuts to the dough for extra crunch and flavor.
