Description

Indulge in these easy, homemade Fig and Cream Cheese Bars for a delicious anytime snack or dessert. The combination of sweet figs and creamy cheese in a buttery, crumbly crust is simply irresistible.


Ingredients

– 1 cup all-purpose flour

– 1/2 cup granulated sugar

– 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened

– 1 (8 oz) package cream cheese, softened

– 1/4 cup powdered sugar

– 1 cup chopped fresh figs


Instructions

1. Preheat oven to 350°F. Grease an 8×8-inch baking pan.

2. In a medium bowl, combine the flour and granulated sugar. Cut in the butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs.

3. Press half of the crumb mixture into the prepared baking pan.

4. In a separate bowl, beat the cream cheese and powdered sugar until smooth.

5. Spread the cream cheese mixture over the crumb base.

6. Top with the chopped fresh figs.

7. Sprinkle the remaining crumb mixture over the top.

8. Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until the top is golden brown.

9. Allow to cool completely before cutting into bars.

Notes

For a sweeter treat, you can drizzle the bars with honey or a simple glaze before serving. Store leftovers in the refrigerator for up to 5 days.
