Ingredients
– 1 lb ground beef
– 1 onion, diced
– 3 cloves garlic, minced
– 1 cup beef broth
– 2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
– 1 tsp dried thyme
– 1/2 tsp salt
– 1/4 tsp black pepper
– 6 hamburger buns, toasted
– 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
Instructions
1. – In a large skillet, cook the ground beef over medium-high heat, breaking it up as it cooks, until browned, about 5-7 minutes.
2. – Add the diced onion and garlic to the skillet and cook until the onion is softened, about 3-4 minutes.
3. – Pour in the beef broth and Worcestershire sauce. Stir in the dried thyme, salt, and pepper.
4. – Reduce the heat to medium-low and let the mixture simmer, stirring occasionally, until the sauce has thickened, about 10-12 minutes.
5. – Divide the sloppy joe mixture evenly among the toasted hamburger buns.
6. – Top each sandwich with a generous amount of shredded mozzarella cheese.
7. – Serve immediately, while the cheese is melted and gooey.
Notes
For added flavor, you can caramelize the onions before adding them to the beef. You can also use provolone or cheddar cheese instead of mozzarella.
