Description

Ful Medames is a classic Egyptian breakfast dish featuring creamy fava beans simmered in a flavorful tahini-based sauce. This easy-to-prepare recipe delivers an authentic taste of Egypt, perfect for starting your day with a nutritious and satisfying meal.

Ingredients

– 2 cans (15 oz each) fava beans, drained and rinsed

– 1/4 cup tahini

– 2 tablespoons lemon juice

– 1 clove garlic, minced

– 1/4 cup warm water

– 1/4 teaspoon ground cumin

– 1/4 teaspoon ground coriander

– 1/4 teaspoon salt

– 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley

– Pita bread, for serving

Instructions

1. In a medium saucepan, combine the drained and rinsed fava beans, tahini, lemon juice, garlic, warm water, cumin, coriander, and salt. Stir well to mix.

2. Heat the bean mixture over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until heated through and the flavors have melded, about 5-7 minutes.

3. Remove from heat and stir in the chopped parsley.

4. Serve the Ful Medames warm, with pita bread on the side.

Notes

– For a creamier texture, you can lightly mash some of the fava beans with a fork or potato masher.

– Adjust the amount of tahini, lemon juice, and seasonings to taste.

– Top with additional parsley, a drizzle of olive oil, or a sprinkle of paprika for extra flavor and presentation.
