Ingredients
– 2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
– 1 teaspoon baking powder
– 1/2 teaspoon salt
– 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
– 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
– 1 egg
– 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
– Orange, purple, and black sprinkles
Instructions
1. 1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line baking sheets with parchment paper.
2. 2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt. Set aside.
3. 3. In a large bowl, beat the butter and sugar together until light and fluffy, about 2-3 minutes. Beat in the egg and vanilla extract.
4. 4. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
5. 5. Roll the dough out to 1/4-inch thickness on a lightly floured surface. Use Halloween-themed cookie cutters to cut out shapes.
6. 6. Place the shaped cookies on the prepared baking sheets, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
7. 7. Bake for 8-10 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden. Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheets for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
8. 8. Decorate the cooled cookies with the vibrant orange, purple, and black sprinkles.
Notes
For best results, chill the dough for at least 30 minutes before rolling and cutting. This helps the cookies hold their shape better during baking. Store the decorated cookies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 1 week.
