Description

Indulge in the rich, sweet flavor of Homemade Figs Liqueur (Ficoncello) – a quick and easy recipe that’s perfect for entertaining or treating yourself to a cozy night in.

Ingredients

– 1 pound fresh figs, stemmed and quartered

– 1 cup brandy or vodka

– 1 cup white sugar

Instructions

1. In a large jar or bottle, combine the quartered figs and brandy or vodka. Seal the container and let the mixture macerate at room temperature for 5 days, shaking it occasionally.

2. After 5 days, strain the liqueur through a fine-mesh sieve, pressing on the solids to extract as much liquid as possible. Discard the solids.

3. Stir in the sugar until it has completely dissolved. Transfer the liqueur to a clean bottle or jar and seal.

4. Let the liqueur rest for at least 2 weeks before serving. The longer it rests, the more the flavors will develop.

Notes

For a more complex flavor, you can add a vanilla bean, cinnamon stick, or other spices to the maceration process. The liqueur can be stored in a cool, dark place for up to 6 months.
