Description

This homemade green apple syrup is a delightful, versatile topping that’s perfect for drizzling over pancakes, waffles, oatmeal, and more. It’s made with just a few simple ingredients and comes together quickly for a fresh, flavorful addition to your breakfast or brunch.

Ingredients

– 3 cups chopped green apples (about 4 medium apples)

– 1 cup granulated sugar

– 1 cup water

– 2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice

Instructions

1. In a medium saucepan, combine the chopped green apples, sugar, and water. Bring the mixture to a boil over medium-high heat.

2. Reduce the heat to medium-low and let the mixture simmer, stirring occasionally, for 15-20 minutes until the apples are very soft and the liquid has reduced by about half.

3. Remove the pan from the heat and stir in the fresh lemon juice.

4. Using a fine-mesh strainer, strain the apple mixture to separate the solids from the liquid syrup. Discard the solids.

5. Transfer the green apple syrup to a clean jar or container and let cool to room temperature before using.

Notes

The syrup can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks. It’s delicious drizzled over pancakes, waffles, oatmeal, or even used as a topping for ice cream or yogurt.
