Description

Indulge in the comforting, old-fashioned flavor of our homemade Irish Tea Cake. This buttery, crumbly cake is perfect for enjoying with a hot cup of tea, making it the ideal afternoon treat for the whole family.

Ingredients

– 2 cups all-purpose flour

– 1 cup granulated sugar

– 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened

– 2 large eggs

– 1 cup whole milk

– 2 teaspoons baking powder

– 1/4 teaspoon salt

Instructions

1. 1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9-inch round baking pan with butter or non-stick cooking spray.

2. 2. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.

3. 3. In a separate bowl, beat the softened butter until creamy. Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition.

4. 4. Gradually add the flour mixture to the butter mixture, alternating with the milk, and mix until just combined. Be careful not to overmix.

5. 5. Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan and smooth the top with a spatula.

6. 6. Bake for 35-40 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

7. 7. Allow the cake to cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer it to a wire rack to cool completely.

8. 8. Serve the Irish Tea Cake warm or at room temperature, dusted with powdered sugar if desired. Enjoy!

Notes

– For a richer flavor, use buttermilk instead of regular milk.

– Add a teaspoon of vanilla extract to the batter for extra depth of flavor.

– Serve the cake with a dollop of whipped cream or a scoop of vanilla ice cream for a decadent treat.
