These Jack-O’-Lantern Calzones are a spooky and delicious Halloween treat! Packed with a creamy pumpkin and cheese filling, they’re baked to golden-brown perfection with a pumpkin-shaped crust.
Ingredients
– 1 batch of your favorite pizza dough
– 1 cup pumpkin puree
– 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
– 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
– 1 teaspoon dried oregano
– 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
– 1/4 teaspoon salt
– 1 egg, beaten
Instructions
1. 1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
2. 2. On a lightly floured surface, roll out the pizza dough into a large rectangle, about 1/4-inch thick.
3. 3. In a bowl, mix together the pumpkin puree, mozzarella cheese, Parmesan cheese, oregano, garlic powder, and salt.
4. 4. Spread the pumpkin-cheese mixture evenly over half of the dough rectangle.
5. 5. Fold the other half of the dough over the filling and press the edges to seal.
6. 6. Use a sharp knife or pizza cutter to cut the calzones into pumpkin shapes.
7. 7. Transfer the Jack-O’-Lantern Calzones to a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
8. 8. Brush the tops of the calzones with the beaten egg.
9. 9. Bake for 18-22 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown.
10. 10. Serve hot, with marinara sauce for dipping.
Notes
Feel free to adjust the filling ingredients to your taste, such as adding a dash of nutmeg or swapping out the mozzarella for a different cheese. These calzones can also be made ahead and frozen for a quick and easy Halloween snack.
