Description

Discover the authentic taste of traditional Korean Rice Balls (Jumeokbap) – a simple, delicious finger food that’s easy to make at home. These bite-sized treats are packed with aromatic rice, coated in a savory seasoning, and topped with toasted sesame seeds for a delightful crunch.

Ingredients

– 2 cups short-grain rice, cooked and cooled

– 2 tablespoons gochujang (Korean red chili paste)

– 2 tablespoons soy sauce

– 1 tablespoon sesame oil

– 2 scallions, finely chopped

– 2 tablespoons toasted sesame seeds

Instructions

1. 1. In a large bowl, combine the cooked and cooled rice, gochujang, soy sauce, and sesame oil. Mix well until the rice is evenly coated.

2. 2. Scoop a heaping tablespoon of the rice mixture and gently shape it into a compact ball with your hands.

3. 3. Roll the rice ball in the chopped scallions and toasted sesame seeds, pressing gently to help the toppings adhere.

4. 4. Repeat the process with the remaining rice mixture to make approximately 12 rice balls.

5. 5. Serve the Korean Rice Balls (Jumeokbap) immediately, with a small dish of soy sauce for dipping, if desired.

Notes

For best results, use short-grain rice, such as sushi rice or Korean short-grain rice. The rice should be cooked and cooled before assembling the balls. Adjust the amount of gochujang and soy sauce to suit your desired level of flavor and spice.
