Description

These soft, pillowy purple sweet potato buns are a delicious and nutritious twist on a classic. Made with just 6 simple ingredients, they’re easy to prepare and perfect for enjoying as a healthy snack or side dish.

Ingredients

– 1 medium purple sweet potato, peeled and cubed

– 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour

– 1 teaspoon salt

– 1 tablespoon granulated sugar

– 1 packet (2 1/4 teaspoons) active dry yeast

– 1/2 cup warm milk

Instructions

1. 1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).

2. 2. Place the cubed sweet potato in a pot and cover with water. Bring to a boil and cook until tender, about 15-20 minutes.

3. 3. Drain the sweet potato and mash it until smooth.

4. 4. In a large mixing bowl, combine the mashed sweet potato, flour, salt, sugar, and yeast. Slowly pour in the warm milk and knead the dough until it’s smooth and elastic, about 5-7 minutes.

5. 5. Cover the dough and let it rise in a warm place for 1 hour, or until it has doubled in size.

6. 6. Punch down the dough to release any air bubbles, then divide it into 8 equal pieces. Roll each piece into a ball and place them on a parchment-lined baking sheet.

7. 7. Bake the buns for 20-25 minutes, or until they’re golden brown.

8. 8. Remove the buns from the oven and let them cool slightly before serving.

Notes

– For a softer texture, brush the buns with melted butter after baking. – Try adding a sprinkle of cinnamon or a drizzle of honey for extra flavor. – Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days.
