Description

Indulge in the ultimate fall dessert with these easy, irresistible Salted Caramel Apple Bars. Featuring a buttery shortbread crust, chunks of sweet apples, and a decadent salted caramel topping, these bars are the perfect blend of salty and sweet.

Ingredients

– 2 cups all-purpose flour

– 1 cup unsalted butter, softened

– 1/2 cup granulated sugar

– 1/2 cup brown sugar

– 1 teaspoon baking powder

– 1/4 teaspoon salt

– 3 large apples, peeled, cored, and diced

– 1 cup caramel sauce

– 1 teaspoon coarse sea salt

Instructions

1. 1. Preheat the oven to 350°F. Grease a 9×13-inch baking pan.

2. 2. In a large bowl, combine the flour, butter, granulated sugar, brown sugar, baking powder, and salt. Mix until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.

3. 3. Press half of the crumb mixture into the prepared baking pan to form the crust.

4. 4. Scatter the diced apples over the crust.

5. 5. Drizzle the caramel sauce evenly over the apples.

6. 6. Sprinkle the remaining crumb mixture over the caramel-covered apples.

7. 7. Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the apples are tender.

8. 8. Remove from the oven and sprinkle the coarse sea salt over the top.

9. 9. Allow to cool completely before cutting into bars.

Notes

For a prettier presentation, drizzle additional caramel sauce over the bars before serving. Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 4 days.
