Ingredients
– 2 cups all-purpose flour
– 1 teaspoon salt
– 1 teaspoon baking powder
– 1 cup sourdough discard
– 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
– 3 cloves garlic, minced
– 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
– 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley
Instructions
1. Preheat oven to 400°F. Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
2. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, salt, and baking powder. Stir in the sourdough discard until a shaggy dough forms.
3. Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and knead for 2-3 minutes until smooth and elastic.
4. Divide the dough into 12 equal pieces. Roll each piece into a ball.
5. In a small bowl, mix together the melted butter and garlic.
6. Arrange the dough balls in the prepared baking dish. Pour the garlic butter over the top, making sure to coat each piece.
7. Sprinkle the Parmesan cheese and parsley over the top.
8. Bake for 18-20 minutes, or until the bread is golden brown and the cheese is melted.
9. Serve warm, pulling apart the bread and dipping it into the garlicky butter.
Notes
For extra flavor, you can add dried herbs, such as oregano or basil, to the garlic butter. This bread is best enjoyed fresh, but leftovers can be stored in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
