Description

Enjoy the classic taste of homemade Tang Yuan (Sweet Rice Balls) – a delightful Chinese dessert with a soft, chewy texture. These sweet rice balls are easy to make and perfect as a snack or dessert.

Ingredients

– 2 cups glutinous rice flour

– 1/2 cup water

– 1/4 cup white sugar

Instructions

1. In a large bowl, mix together the glutinous rice flour and water until a soft dough forms.

2. Knead the dough for 2-3 minutes until it becomes smooth and pliable.

3. Pinch off a small piece of dough and roll it into a ball between your palms.

4. Bring a pot of water to a boil. Carefully add the rice balls to the boiling water and cook for 8-10 minutes, or until they float to the surface.

5. Remove the cooked rice balls from the water with a slotted spoon and transfer to a serving bowl.

6. Sprinkle the desired amount of sugar over the top of the rice balls and serve warm.

Notes

– For a creamier texture, add a tablespoon of coconut milk or milk to the dough.

– Top the rice balls with crushed peanuts, sesame seeds, or a drizzle of honey for extra flavor.

– Store any leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
