Ingredients
– 1 loaf of day-old bread, cubed
– 1 onion, diced
– 3 celery stalks, diced
– 3 cloves of garlic, minced
– 1/2 cup unsalted butter
– 1 cup chicken or vegetable broth
– 2 eggs, beaten
– 1 tablespoon fresh thyme, chopped
– 1 tablespoon fresh sage, chopped
– 1 teaspoon poultry seasoning
– Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
1. – Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
2. – In a large skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the diced onion and celery, and sauté until softened, about 5-7 minutes.
3. – Stir in the minced garlic and cook for an additional minute, until fragrant.
4. – Transfer the sautéed vegetables to a large mixing bowl. Add the cubed bread, beaten eggs, broth, thyme, sage, poultry seasoning, salt, and pepper. Gently mix until well combined.
5. – Grease a 9×13 inch baking dish and transfer the stuffing mixture into it, spreading it out evenly.
6. – Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and crispy.
7. – Serve hot and enjoy!
Notes
For a moister stuffing, add an extra 1/4 cup of broth. For a crunchier texture, bake for an additional 5-10 minutes. This stuffing can also be prepared a day in advance and baked just before serving.
