Description
This Tomato Chilli Jam is a sweet, spicy, and addictive homemade condiment that adds a flavorful kick to a variety of dishes. Spread it on sandwiches, use it as a dip for crackers, or even dollop it on grilled meats and roasted vegetables.
Ingredients
– 2 pounds ripe tomatoes, chopped
– 1 cup granulated sugar
– 1/2 cup apple cider vinegar
– 3 garlic cloves, minced
– 2 tablespoons fresh ginger, grated
– 2 teaspoons red pepper flakes
– 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
– 1/2 teaspoon salt
Instructions
1. In a large saucepan, combine the chopped tomatoes, sugar, vinegar, garlic, ginger, red pepper flakes, smoked paprika, and salt.
2. Bring the mixture to a boil over medium-high heat, then reduce the heat to low and simmer, stirring occasionally, for 30-40 minutes, or until the jam has thickened to your desired consistency.
3. Remove the pan from the heat and let the jam cool slightly.
4. Transfer the Tomato Chilli Jam to sterilized jars or an airtight container and refrigerate for up to 2 weeks.
Notes
This jam can be customized to your desired level of spiciness by adjusting the amount of red pepper flakes. For a smoother texture, use an immersion blender to puree the jam before transferring to jars. The jam also makes a great gift!
