Description

Indulge in the rich, buttery goodness of this classic French Butter Cake. This quick and easy recipe yields a moist, tender cake with a beautiful golden crust and a delightful flavor that will have you coming back for more.

Ingredients

– 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, softened

– 1 cup granulated sugar

– 3 large eggs

– 2 cups all-purpose flour

– 1 teaspoon baking powder

– 1/4 teaspoon salt

– 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (180°C). Grease a 9-inch round baking pan with butter or non-stick cooking spray.

2. In a large mixing bowl, cream the softened butter and sugar together until light and fluffy, about 3-4 minutes.

3. Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Scrape down the sides of the bowl as needed.

4. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.

5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing just until combined. Be careful not to overmix.

6. Stir in the vanilla extract.

7. Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan and smooth the top.

8. Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.

9. Allow the cake to cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

For a richer flavor, you can substitute half of the all-purpose flour with cake flour. You can also add a tablespoon of lemon zest or a teaspoon of almond extract to the batter. The cake can be stored at room temperature in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
