Description

Crispy, golden-brown pretzel-crusted chicken breasts are smothered in a rich and creamy mustard-cheddar sauce for a delicious and easy-to-make dinner that’s sure to impress.

Ingredients

– 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts

– 1 cup pretzel crumbs

– 1/4 cup all-purpose flour

– 2 eggs, beaten

– 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese

– 1/2 cup milk

– 2 tablespoons Dijon mustard

– 2 tablespoons butter

– 1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley

– Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

1. – Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

2. – Season the chicken breasts with salt and pepper.

3. – Set up a breading station with the flour, beaten eggs, and pretzel crumbs in three separate shallow dishes.

4. – Dredge the chicken in the flour, then dip it in the egg, and finally coat it with the pretzel crumbs, pressing gently to adhere.

5. – Place the breaded chicken on the prepared baking sheet and bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the chicken is cooked through and the crust is golden-brown.

6. – In a saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Whisk in the Dijon mustard and milk, and cook until the sauce thickens, about 5 minutes.

7. – Remove the sauce from heat and stir in the shredded cheddar cheese until melted and smooth.

8. – Serve the baked pretzel-crusted chicken breasts with the creamy mustard-cheddar sauce, garnished with fresh parsley.

Notes

– For a crispier crust, you can also pan-fry the breaded chicken in a skillet with a bit of oil before baking.

– Adjust the amount of Dijon mustard to your desired level of tanginess.

– Shredded Parmesan cheese can be used in place of cheddar for a different flavor profile.
